My current obsession.
Rusty Matyas, one half of the glorious duo that is Imaginary Cities, describes the band’s sound as “Arcade Fire and Metric with a soulful, beautiful voice over top.”
Their new album, Temporary Resident, comes out today. They are also going out on tour supporting The Pixies for their Doolittle Tour 2011.
Check them out here.
Stagger Lee – Downchild Blues Band
Some guy is currently outside my window on a ladder, and he’s making a lot of noise. So this song is playing a little loud right now.
The Blues Brothers played some of Downchild’s songs in their movies, which is how I got into them. That and my mom is a big fan of blues and Downchild.
Ray LaMontagne – Devil’s In the Jukebox
This has been one of those songs, where since I’ve bought it, I cannot stop listening to it. It’s got this down home-sitting on the porch-bluesy-country feel to it. It’s a song off of LaMontagne’s fouth LP, God Willin’ and the Creek Don’t Rise. It’s also the first that he’s produced on his own. The album was recorded at LaMontagne’s home in the woods of Massachusetts with his band, the Pariah Dogs.
Check it out. Cheers.
